Bombers Win Again, Prepare for 4 Game Road Trip

Huntingburg (NNDC) – The Dubois County Bombers struck first on Tuesday night after plating one run in the bottom of the first.   The slim lead was short lived as the visiting Fulton Railroaders scored a pair of runs in the top of the second giving them a 2-1 lead.   Dubois County knotted up the game in the bottom of the third when Southridge graduate and Olney Central College product Payton Mattingly was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Both teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the seventh when Dubois County derailed the Railroaders with 5 Bombers crossing the plate giving the home team a 7-2 lead.   Dubois County added three more runs in the eighth inning to close out the game with a 10-2 victory.

Jaxson Blair earned the victory for the Bombers.  He pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out three.   Dubois County tallied 10 hits in the game.   Gavin Napier and Cooper Trinkle had 2 hits apiece to pace the Bombers.   With the win, Dubois County is now 22-13 on the season and only 1/2 of a game behind league leading Owensboro (22-12).

The Bombers hit the road for a 4 game road trip and will return back to League Stadium next Monday with a 2 game homestand to close out the regular season at home.    Dubois County returns to action on Thursday night as they travel to Paducah to face the Chiefs.
