Rose C. Fuhs, 90, Jasper

Rose C. Fuhs, 90, of Jasper, died Friday (July 6) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in St. Anthony February 6, 1928, to George and Stella (Mundy) Buechler. She married John L. Fuhs November 16, 1948, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. He died July 30, 1992.

Rose worked for many years at the Jasper Glove Company. She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and its Ladies Sodality, the Jasper Deanery Adoration Chapel, and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary to Post No. 673 in Jasper. She was an avid quilter and quilted for 30 years for the Precious Blood Church picnics. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four daughters, Jane Blakeman and his Eric, Henderson, Kentucky, Carol Hopf and Donna Wendholt and husband John, all of Jasper, and Susan Hollis and husband James, Columbia, South Carolina; three sons, Richard Fuhs and wife Ellen, West Lafayette, Indiana, Don Fuhs and wife Pamela, Jasper, and John Fuhs and wife Cheryl, Ada, Michigan; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Knust and husband Donald, Ferdinand; and one brother, Charles Buechler and wife Betty, Bristow.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one sister, Sadie Hochgesang, three brothers, Jacob, Linus O., and Robert Buechler, and one son-in-law, Daniel Hopf.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at Precious Blood Church. The Precious Blood Sodality will lead a rosary at 9:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Precious Blood Church or to a favorite charity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
