Rosalie C. Lueken, 88, Birdseye

Rosalie C. Lueken, 88, of Birdseye, died Monday (July 2) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Siberia October 5, 1929, to Leo and Helen (Beyke) Elmer. She married Wilfred Lueken May 9, 1950, at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Siberia. He died August 29, 1984.

Rosalie was a farmwife and homemaker. She worked at Tri-Cap and helped organize blood drives for the Red Cross. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – Sacred Heart Campus and enjoyed gardening, flowers, reading, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Goldman and Mary Jo Theising and husband John, all of Birdseye, and Janice Kemker and husband Dr. Bernard Jr., Jasper; three sons, Kenneth Lueken and wife Carol, Hatfield, Missouri, and Paul (Geriann) Lueken and wife Geriann and Dennis Lueken and wife Jackie, all of Birdseye; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one brother, Melvin Elmer and wife Viola, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Reiss Goldman.

Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville. In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Northwood Retirement Community. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Satirday at Sacred Heart Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
