Dubois County (NNDC):

– Jasper Police were attempting to serve  a warrant to  31-year-old Jordon Earls of Sunset drive in Jasper around 1:30 Sunday.  When officers arrived around 1:30 Sunday afternoon, they said the smell of burnt marijuana was emanating from Earls’ breath.

Police say he had marijuana in his mouth and, when the officers told him to spit it out, Earls allegedly pulled away from police and supposedly swallowed it.

He’s charged with Obstruction of Justice, Resisting Law Enforcement and False Reporting and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.

 

Too Much Fun in the Sun

 Police were called to the Jasper Municipal Pool Sunday afternoon on a report of two people drunk, swimming in the pool with their two children.

According to police, 37-year-old Jonathan Hunsicker and 35-year-old Hope Heinz were very drunk, registering at point .30 blood alcohol content.

The pair reportedly became combative when asked to leave cursing and vocally abusive.

Because of the adult’s level of intoxication, Child Protective Services was called out to their home on Birk Drive.

When officers met Hunsicker and Heinz, they found Hunsicker in the driver’s seat of his vehicle with the engine running, the two children in the back seat.

The suspects became disorderly again and were eventually taken to the hospital to be medically cleared.  They were jailed then on charges of OWI, neglect, and disorderly conduct.  The two minors were then handed over to their biological mother.

In Holland

– Yet another boil order is in effect for the town of Holland following a water main break over the weekend near, and is effect until further notice.  This is the 2nd in a manner of 2 weeks.  like the last order this is due to another water main break.

Domestic Problems

– A Jasper man, Nathanael Johnson, was arrested and charged with domestic battery, interference with the reporting of a crime and resisting law enforcement.  All charges are misdemeanors and resulted from an alleged domestic battery.

Police were called to a home in the 600 block of Giesler Road just before midnight Saturday on a report of a dispute at an apartment there.

– Celebrating 175 Years in Celestine! 

 

 

 

 

 

Celestine is celebrating 175 years this coming weekend.  The festival kicks off Thursday evening with presentation of the Grand Marshals Vic and Viola Sander and their children as well as the constants for the king and queen contest.  The evening will culminate with a night time parade with lighted floats.

The mandatory beer garden will be in full swing along with lots of food and fun.  Highlights include hot air balloon rides, fireworks, musical entertainment and lots of games for kids and adults alike.
