Dorothy M. Dudine, 97, Jasper

Dorothy M. Dudine, 97, of Jasper, died Wednesday (June 20) at the St. Augustine Retirement Home in Indianapolis. She was born in Jasper August 8, 1920, to Frank and Cecelia (Bockelman) Eckerle. She married Roman A. Dudine November 14, 1944, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died October 27, 2006.

Dorothy was a graduate of Jasper High School. She worked at Jasper Novelty Works, Modernbilt Homes, and Ruxer Garage, and retired from Jasper Engines and Transmissions.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and the St. Anne’s Society. She enjoyed playing cards, was dedicated to her family, and was proud to be from Jasper. She and her husband were very involved in the Jasper High School music program and traveled with the JHS band and their children wherever they performed.

She is survived by one son, Don Dudine and wife Linda, Magnet; three daughters, Anne Maas and husband Steve, Cincinnati, and Jane Fischer and husband Charles and Margaret Wente and husband Bob, all of Indianapolis; five grandchildren; and two great-grandhildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl Lorey, Francis Dischinger, and Augusta Wagner, and five brothers, Harold, Alphonse, Leonard, Karl, and Eddie Eckerle.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor in Indianapolis, the Sisters of Providence (, St. Joseph Church, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences can be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
