Dubois County (NNDC):

– Reminder to the public that The Parklands, a new and fantastic recreational addition to the City of Jasper, complete with a pavilion center usable for events, several lakes and bridges and 2 miles of walking trails will be holding their grand opening on July 7th at 10:30 am.  Citizens are urged NOT to enter the grounds until then as there are many hazards due to the frenzy of construction.

– The owners of Fat N Sassy restaurant in Huntingburg have announced they are closing their doors after 25 years in business.

Owners remarked,“We have loved serving you for the past 25 years, however, all good things must come to an end. It is with very mixed emotions that we are announcing the closing of Fat & Sassy.”

No particular reason for the closing was given.  The last day of operation will be July 14th.

– The Jasper City Council met June 20 at 7:00 pm, and discussed a variety of topics.  Most were procedural matters such as rezoning, property tax discussions and utility service board reports.  No new significant issues were reviewed.

– “Oh Deer”

An  Orange County woman survived with only minor injuries after hitting a deer that crashed through the front window of her car and landing in the passenger seat.

Jessica Combs, 37, French Lick, was northbound on U.S. 231 south of County Road 500N in a 2009 Chevrolet passenger car at about 4:20 p.m. Friday when a deer entered the highway in front of her vehicle.

Jessica was assisted by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
