James “Jim” Fill, 80, Huntingburg

James “Jim” Fill, 80, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (June 13) at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Seymour May 8, 1938, to Carl Christian and Dorothy (Davis) Fill. He married Linda Linstrot August 7, 1966, at United Methodist Church in Huntingburg.

Jim was employed as a district scout executive with the Buffalo Trace Boy Scout Council and as a machine operator with Styline Corporation for 30 years. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Huntingburg and Dubois County Masonic Lodge No. 520 F&AM. He served as a corporal in the United States Army, enjoyed wood working, and was a Purdue University sports fan.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Fill; one daughter, Christy Miller and husband Jan, Huntingburg; one son, Jeff Fill and wife Kim, Morgantown; and two grandchildren, Nicole Fill, Ft. Bliss, Texas, and Nathan Fill, Mogantown.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Allyn, and one brother, Weldon Fill.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church. A Masonic vigil service will be conducted by the Dubois County Masonic Lodge at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Mnited Methodist Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with Pastor Lee Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. The Holland American Legion memorial detail will conduct military graveside rites.
