– NEW:   NEWS RELEASE
Date: 6/11/2018, Brandon Huff of Jasper was arrested for Battery, a level 6 Felony and Lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.  On June 10th 2018, JPD officer received information about a juvenile sustaining injuries while in the care of Mr. Huff. Upon investigation charges of Battery were filed against Mr. Huff. He was taken into custody at JPD and lodged at the Dubois Co Security Center.
– The annual Kiddie Karnival sponsored by the Jasper Kiwanis was held yesterday at the Riverwalk.  It was a rainy start to the day but ended up being fantastic, if a bit humid.  Good food, kids’ games, and fun for everyone were the rule of the day.

The Kiwanis club contributes about $6,000 back to the community for our youth in scholarships and funding for events each year.  Most of those funds are raised from this event and Strassenfest activities.

– Lyndsay M. Mcbride of Jasper was arrested by Jasper Police while
walking in the area of US 231 and 12th avenue when a motorist advised that Mcbride attempted to open the door of the car while stopped at the red light. JPD units arrived in the area and located Mcbride who appeared to be under the influence. Upon further investigation Mcbride admitted to using methamphetamine earlier that morning.  She was charged with Public Intoxication, DUI, and placed in the Dubois County Security Center.

– The state of Indiana is roughly the middle of the number of suicides in the country which are on the rise.  Suicide rates are up 32% nation wide in the last 17 years, except for the state of Nevada.  Ironically, most sucides are not related to mental health issues, rather a culmination of multiple issues stacking up at the same time.  There is a nationwide suicide hotline available 24/7, call 1-800-273-TALK.

– Indiana residents are being warned by the FDA and CDC to be careful about eating precut melons from clear plastic containers as 16 people in the state have already experienced salmonella from the food processed in Indianapolis.

– KIA has announced a recall notice of a defective air bag failure potential in several late models of various cars.  Owners will be notified of the affected vehicles and will be repaired by a local dealer free of charge.

– There are still road closings for sewer work in Huntingburg for June 12th and 13th from market St. to 3rd.  Please try to avoid these areas during work hours.
