Dubois County (NNDC):

– Police stopped 21-year-old Carson Popp Monday morning  just around 10 on a littering violation for throwing a cigarette out of his vehicle.  He was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia and was taken to the Dubois County Security Center.

– A Bedford woman is in jail today after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of .41%.  The legal limit is .08%.   Police indicated that 45-year-old Bridget Adams was involved in two crashes.

Fleeing from the scene of the first crash, and a second incident occurred about 10 minutes later when she allegedly hit a trash can and support beam at the Bo-Mac’s Drive In.  She was subsequently taken to the hospital and then incarcerated.

– A crash at the Dubois crossroads resulted in injuries to two individuals.  The driver Jeffrey Doterwick and his passenger Crystal Dotterwick experienced head lacerations after Jeffrey fell asleep behind the wheel and  vehicle ran off the road and overturned.  They were transported to the hospital and are recovering.  The couple may have been thrown from the vehicle.  No charges were filed but the investigation is ongoing.

– Indiana residents can now text to 911 or call as usual.  And Indiana is the only State that has the ability to “text back”.  This ability is available in all counties in the State.

– Jasper has announced the grand opening of The Parklands.  The ribbon cutting will be Saturday July 7th at 10:30 AM.  The Parklands will have walking trails, outdoor play equipment, bridges, lakes & and of coarse the Pavilion event center.  The Park Dept. is urging citizens NOT to enter the grounds during the final stage of construction as there are many hazards as well as construction activity.

– The Rotary Club of Jasper has announced the 7th annual Athena Leadership Award.  The event will be held on August 16th at the Huntingburg Event Centerat 6:00 PM.  Finalists include Kim Messmer, Kim Lottes, Beth Seidel, Sandy Smith, and Marie Patton.

– There will be a flag disposal held by the Dubois County Vetrans Council at the 4H fairgrounds on June 8th at 7:00 PM to properly dispose of old flags of any type.  A bugler will play and the National Anthem will be recited to honor all who have fallen including MIA’s and POW’s who have served for our great country.

– The city Street Dept. is advising residents that Scenic Court and Cobble Stone Rd. will be undergoing milling and repaving today and traffic may be limited.
