– Limb pickup resulting from last weeks storm begins today for Jasper and Huntingburg.  Normal limb sizes have been increased though all debris needs to be placed curb side and limbs stacked horizontally. Please call your respective city department for exact times and dates for pickup.

– Today is the opening day for the Jasper City Pool.  12:00 is the official opening, it was preceded  by an outdoor lunch opportunity at 11:30 in  J.C. Park.

– Mayor Terry Seitz has ordered city flags to half staff today in honor of recently deceased Iris Gutgsell former clerk treasurer.

– The Indiana State Police are kicking off their Million Meal Movement for 2018.  The movement began last year and over 280,000 meals have already been provided to citizens of Indiana so far.  This  event is an attempt to provide food for the hungry and poor by placing meal packets in police cruisers filled with healthy food and essential nutrients and disperse them to those in need.  Over 300 meals will be placed in cruisers today alone, all prepared by volunteers.   (This story was sourced by Network Indiana)

– Now that summer is in full swing the Indiana Department of Natural Resources is reminding all those spending time on Indiana lakes and waterways use life jackets.  Today’s jackets are not the old clumsy orange ones rather, they are light weight and stylish.  Most people don’t wear a jacket and the DNR is advising a better saf than sorry approach Vs getting into trouble and having no escape.

– The body of Kaylea Hickman was found in a Paoli wooded area last week and Indiana police have determined that foul play was not involved.  An autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death.

– Sarah Angerer was arrested for shoplifting over $50 of merchandise from WalMart Saturday.

– Police reported that 63 year old Rodrigo Mendosa was driving impaired and hit a parked car in Maple Grove Village Park in Jasper around 3 PM on Friday. Early reports indicate that he then backed up through landscaping causing over $1000 in damage. Police apprehended Mendosa and he was subsequently charged with OWI with a blood alcohol content of over 1.5.
