County Commissioners Mon. June 4

Dubois County (NNDC):

– Megan Durlauf requested a new position for the county as a Criminal Justice assistant to help in the Dubois County law enforcement.    The ultimate goal of this addition is to help incarcerated individuals stay out of prison, moving them from community corrections to probation and then back into the community.  She suggested that todays program is a short time fix and many individuals return to an already overcrowded facility and further add to the problem.  Thee Council agreed with this approach and suggested she work the program into next years budget which has yet to been reviewed and approved.

– Several equipment and telephone issues were discussed regarding very old systems which need to be upgraded.  The Commissioners tabled the discussion until details of the projects could be provided and incorporated into the budget.

– Approved partial road closings for the the upcoming parade in Celestine.

– No public comment was presented.

– The meeting concluded noting that next month begins the budget process for next year, so stay tuned to newsnowdc.com for details.
