Anna Mae Messier, 79, Jasper

Anna Mae Messier, 79, of Jasper, died Friday (June 1) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born December 9, 1938, to Bernard and Clarissa (Steffen) Kreilein. She married Amedie “Tom” Messier May 28, 1960, in Jasper. He died September 9, 2007.

Anna Mae retired as a teacher assistant at Fifth Street School where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Sodality of the Blessed Mother, Daughters of Isabell, the St. Anne Society, American Legion Auxiliary, where she was past president, VFW Auxiliary, and the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to casinos.

She is survived by two sons, Kurt Messier and wife Sherri, Jasper, and Michael Messier and wife Cindy, Newburgh; six grandchildren, Heath, Nicholas, Nate, Jace, Lucas, and Isaac Messier; three sisters, Marcella Rees, Louise Schitter and husband Levienes, and Florence Angerer and husband Delbert, all of Jasper; and two brothers, Dennis Kreilein and wife Virlee, Jasper, and Kenneth Kreilein and wife Marge, Celestine.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Alberta Kreilein and a sister who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Church. The D of I and St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home and American Legion Auxilary Post No. 147 will hold a memorial service at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
