Charles F. “Chill” Habig, 83, Jasper

Charles F. “Chill” Habig, 83, of Jasper, died Wednesday (May 16) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper October 13, 1934, to Edward and Dora (Kuper) Habig.

Chill was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFFW Post No. 673 and American Legion Post 147 in Jasper. He retired as the president of the Jasper Glove Company. He served on the Bainbridge Township Advisory Board for over 32 years, 28 as president. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the Jasper Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by one brother, Don Habig and wife Joan, Louisville; one sister, Mary Jane Ryder and husband Bill, Lancaster, Pennsylvania; one granddaughter, Cody Myles; one great-grandson, Eli Myles; his caretaker, Sue Loepker, Jasper; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
