Betty A. Mehringer, 74, Ireland

Betty A. Mehringer, 74, of Ireland, died Wednesday (May 16) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg September 15, 1943, to Fred and Frances (Mehling) Dilger. She married Kenneth C. Mehringer May 20, 1967, at St. Meinrad Catholic Church. He died April 21, 2017.

Betty retired as laundry manager for the Providence Home in Jasper. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland and its St. Anne’s Society. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana University basketball fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles, Bingo, and fish frys.

She is survived by one son, Brian K. Mehringer, Ireland; one daughter, Amy J. Eger and husband Brian, Evansville; two grandchildren, Jarod and Lauren Eger; one brother, James Dilger and wife Linda, St. Meinrad; and sister-in-law Linda Underhill and husband Johnny, Ferdinand.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Dilger.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The St. Mary’s St. Anne’s Society will pray a rosary at 3:45 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church, Southern Indiana Special Olympics, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
