Driver Charged With OWI Following Crash Into House

Dubois County (NNDC) – A 47-year-old Huntingburg man faces OWI charges after driving his pickup truck into a residence on State Road 64 just West of Birdseye Thursday evening, causing extensive damage to the house.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reports Woodie J. Edwards was driving his pickup westbound in the Mentor area at 10:23 when he ran off the roadway and struck a residence at 9604 E. State Road 64. The collision caused damage to the foundation of the home and also damaged an automobile that was parked inside the garage. The truck was declared a total loss and damage to the house was estimated at $40,000.

Edwards was taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper for medical clearance, tested .09%, and was booked in the Dubois County Security Center for OWI. He later posted bond pending a court appearance May 2 in Dubois Superior Court.
