Robert Meyer, 91, Jasper

Robert L. Meyer, 91, of Jasper, died Monday (April 9) at Cathedral Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Haysville February 15, 1927, to Leo and Amanda (Kieffner) Meyer. He married Joan Albert May 8, 1954, in Ferdinand.

Robert was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a banker for 35 years at Dubois County Bank, was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jasper, a lifetime member, past commander, and bookkeeper of VFW Post No. 673, American Legion Post No.147, Jasper Moose, Jasper Civitan, Jasper Masonic Lodge, and the Shriners. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, and loved to fish.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Meyer; three sons, Bruce Meyer and wife Lynn, Emerald Isle, North Carolina, Brian Meyer and wife Jane, Fishers, and Kurt Meyer and wife Heather, Westfield; two daughters, Cheryl Blackman, Carmel, and Donna Hellman and husband John, Velpen; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy Mae Seitz, Jasper, and Barbara Ann Lottes and husband Bob, Loogootee; and one brother, John Meyer and wife Sandy, Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at Redeemer Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Redeemer Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military graveside rites.
