Charles L. Dilger, 76, St. Anthony

Charles L. Dilger, 76, of St. Anthony, died Saturday (April 7) at his home. He was born in St. Meinrad May 16, 1941, to Fred and Frances (Mehling) Dilger. He married Veronica “Fronie” Sermersheim June 25, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. She died February 28, 2018.

Charlie retired from UPS after 26 years of service. He served in the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Church where he served as an usher for many years and was a member of the cemetery board, the St. Anthony Community Center, where he served as a director, and the Mariah Hill YMI. He was active in scouting and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by three sons, Mark Dilger and wife Terri, Richland, and Steve Dilger and wife Heather and Dave Dilger, all of Jasper; two grandchildren, Kyla and Kevin Dilger; one sister, Betty Mehringer, Ireland; and one brother, James B. Dilger and wife Linda, St. Meinrad.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one son, Dean Dilger.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
