Huntingburg Man involved in single vehicle crash takes out Huntingburg Utility Pole and faces numerous charges

Huntingburg (NNDC) – A single-vehicle crash took out Huntingburg utility pole on North Van Buren Street Tuesday evening.

Huntingburg police responded to the crash on Van Buren at about 9:48 p.m. According to police, Drake Neal, 25, of Huntingburg, was northbound on North Van Buren when the 2005 Chevrolet pickup he was driving left the roadway along the 700 block and struck a utility pole, breaking it.

The truck turned into an alleyway where it sideswiped another pole and an air conditioning unit  and continued east bond before coming to a rest  in a ditch.

Police said Drake’s blood alcohol content was .22 percent.

Drake was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance (marijuana), operating a vehicle while intoxicated with endangerment, criminal recklessness, leaving the scene of a crash and reckless driving.

Huntingburg Police were assisted at the scene by Indiana State Police, Huntingburg Fire Department, Memorial EMS, Huntingburg Utilities and Kars Towing.
