Dolores M. Eckerle, 88, Jasper

Dolores M. Eckerle, 88, of Jasper, died Wednesday (March 21) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper September 17, 1929, to Othmar and Catherine (Mehringer) Sermersheim. She married Karl W. Eckerle June 6, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died November 4, 1994.

Dolores worked at the Dairy Queen and K-Mart in Jasper and was a volunteer at Northwood Good Samaritan in Jasper. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Jasper Daughters of Isabella, the St. Anne’s Society, and the Oblates of St. Benedict. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Diana Eckerle, June Hochgesang and husband Bryan, and Angie Pfaff and husband Brian, all of Jasper; two sons, Steven Eckerle and Scott Eckerle and wife Roxane, all of Jasper; daughter-in-law Barbara Willhite, Loogootee; son-in-law Reggie McConnell, Terre Haute; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Hilbert “Hip” Sermersheim and wife Viola, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela McConnell, one son, Kelly Eckerle, one sister, Marcella Persohn, and one brother, Alvin Sermersheim.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery
