Mary Alice Parks, 73, Huntingburg

Mary Alice Parks, 73, of Huntingburg, died Monday (March 19) at the Northwood Good Samaritan Retirement Center in Jasper. She was born in Augusta, Georgia, November 3, 1944, to Lt. Col. Gordon T. and Eva F. Parks.

Mary Alice was a descendant of the original pioneers in Dubois and Orange Counties and was a third generation graduate of Huntingburg High School. She graduated with a B.A. degree from Indiana University and an M.A. degree from the University of Cincinnati. She worked in technical sales at Cincinnati Sub-Zero, as an application engineer at Waterbury Farrel-Textron in Cheshire, Connecticut, as a computerized specialist at Bendix Automation and Measurement in Dayton, Ohio, and as a marketing director and center director of SIRS. Her interests were history, gardening, furniture refinishing, and Mah Jong. She was a moving force in starting the Shiloh Pet Cemetery in 2000, was a Master Gardener, and a member of the DAR

She is survived by one niece and three great-nieces.
