Ruth H. Durlauf, 85, Ferdinand

Ruth H. Durlauf, 85, of Ferdinand, died Monday (March 12) at her home. She was born in St. Meinrad May 4, 1932, to Othmar and Susan (Seger) Becher. Ruth married Jerry Durlauf September 26, 1953, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He died November 27, 1998.

Ruth was a graduate of the Academy of Immaculate Conception. She worked many years at Schreiner’s IGA and retired from MasterBrand at the age of 76. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and Ferdinand Daughters of Isabella. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. After his passing she vacationed with all of her children. She loved spending time with her children, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards, being outside, and tending to her flowers.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Zenaida) Durlauf and wife Zenaida, Fort Walton Beach, Flordia, and Robert Durlauf, Ferdinand; three daughters, Jane (Gary) Oeding and husband Gary, Ferdinand, Susan Schmitt and husband, Washington, and Diane lange and husband Gary, Huntingburg; two brothers, Thomas Becher, Topeka, Kansas, and Charles Becher, Paris, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Durlauf, Erica Hohl, Kelley Hoffman, Brook, Kendyl, and Evan Lange, Katie Schmitt, Samantha Hampton, and Shawna and Sara Durlauf; and six great-grandchildren, Ambrose, Alan and Alana Hohl, Jerrison and Raylin Durlauf, and Grayson Hampton.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son, James Durlauf, two sisters, Mary Ann Potter and Cyrilla Lueken, and two brothers, Joseph and Franklin Becher.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and from 8-10 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Church. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Ferdinand Church followed by burial of cremains in the church cemetery
