Michael A. Carota, 72, Huntingburg

Michael A. Carota, 72, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (March 7) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Monterey, California, August 8, 1945, to Mario and Estelle (Field) Carota, one of 18 siblings. He married Wanda Hatton December 31, 1999, in Wheatland.

Michael was a Viet Nam War veteran and worked as a lineman and heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Northside Christian Church, American Legion, VFW, and Jasper Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda J. Carota; two daughters, Connie Ball and husband Neil, Dubois, and Lisa Elshoff, Huntingburg; daughter-in-law Joleen Reed, Columbus, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Online condolences can be shared at www.nassandson.com. Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by military graveside rites and burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Minister Ronald Frazier will officiate at the service.
