Craft Beer Retreat Scheduled at St. Benedict’s

Ferdinand (NNDC) – St. Benedict’s Brew Works, located on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, and the Sisters of St. Benedict are offering a “monastic beer experience” March 23-24. Brewery owners Vince Luecke and Andy Hedinger will share the history of beer and reflections on gospel parables about grain, earth, yeast, and water. Participants will sample beers, learn beer terminology, and make craft beer.

Sign-in begins March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Benedictine Hospitality Center in Kordes Hall, 841 E. 14th Street in Ferdinand. The program begins at 7 at St. Benedict Brew Works. The first evening will be a social and a discussion of beer styles for brewing on the second day. The retreat concludes at 7 p.m. March 24.

Retreat size is limited to 12 people. Cost is $235, which includes meals, abundant beer sampling, and one night of lodging at the Benedictine Hospitality Center in Kordes Hall. Commuter cost is $175.
