Melba Marie Werremeyer, 88, Huntingburg

Melba Marie Werremeyer, 88, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (March 3) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. She was born in Holland September 24, 1929, to Edmund and Edna (Werremeyer) Roesner. She married Maurice E. “Pete” Werremeyer August 20, 1950, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland. He died November 12, 2017.

Melba worked at General Electric in the 1950s and 60’s and as a teacher’s assistant and secretary at Maple Park Elementary School in Huntingburg. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church where she was church organist for over 60 years. She enjoyed flower gardening, especially roses and day lilies, and cooking.

She is survived by one son, Jack R. Werremeyer and wife Barbara, Dale; one daughter, Joni M. Zarnoth and husband Jay, Dale; one sister, June Seufert, Holland; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Roesner, who died February 7, 2018.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. James Cemetery Endowment Fund. Ed Wicks will officiate at the service.
