Jay Elbert Houchin, 64, of Huntingburg, died Tuesday (February 27). He was born in Evansville May 13, 1953, to Elbert and Anetta (Rice) Houchin. He married Carie Merrell in 1976 in Noblesville.

Jay was vice-president of Live Production at Farbest Foods and a leader in the turkey industry. He served on several local, state, and national industry councils.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Houchin; two daughtersk, Margaret Coomer and husband Brad, Jasper, and Lucy Houchin, Birmingham, England; his mother, Anetta Houchin, Jasper; one sister, Randalyn Clabaugh, Jasper; and one granddaughter, Georgia Coomer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Frank Houchin.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.
