Veronica “Fronie” Dilger, 72, of St. Anthony, died Wednesday (February 28) at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. She was born in Ireland May 25,1945, to Joseph and Gertrude (Beyke) Sermersheim. She married Charles Dilger June 25, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.

Fronie was known for her baking wedding and birthday cakes. She worked for Corbins Drapery and Kimball Electronics in Jasper. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish – St. Anthony Church where she served as Director of Religious Education and Christian Mothers. She was an avid quilter and embroider.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie Dilger; three sons, Mark Dilger and wife Terri, Richland, and Steve Dilger and wife Heather and Dave Dilger, all of Jasper; two grandchildren, Kyla and Kevin Dilger; three sisters, Betty Merkley, Jasper, Sr. Mary Agnes, OSB, Ferdinand, and Florence (Larry) Ebenkamp and husband Larry, Lansing, Michigan; sister-in-law Patricia Sermersheim; and two brothers, Martin Sermersheim and wife Irma, Jasper, and Richard Sermersheim and wife Carol, Celestine.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Dean Dilger, and one brother, Jim Sermersheim.

Friends may call from noon-6 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. A rosary will be prayed at 11:45 a.m. Sunday led by Divine Mercy Parish. Memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish or to a favorite charity. Funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
