Carma J. Habig, 84, Jasper

Carma J. Habig, 84, of Jasper, died Tuesday (February 27) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. She was born in Jasper September 29, 1933, to Cyril and Margaret V. (Seacrest) Wilson. She married John B. Habig December 18, 1954, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Carma was a 1951 graduate of Jasper High School and a 1953 graduate of Stephens College. She also attended Indiana University. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and the Eastern Star. She was a cheerleader for the 1949 Jasper basketball state champions. She enjoyed traveling, wintering in Florida, bird watching, and had a unique gift in finding four leaf clovers.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, John Habig; two daughters, Michaela Ann Habig, Loogootee, and Teri Elizabeth Zunk and husband Hank, Haubstadt; two grandsons, Andy Zunk and wife Erin and Jon Hudson and wife Lauren; one granddaughter, Hannah Schafer and husband Detrix; and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret E. Beckman.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Entombment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com.
