Shirley T. Meyer, 82, Jasper

Shirley T. Meyer, 82, of Jasper, died Friday (February 16) at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Shirley was born in Huntingburg December 16, 1935, to Harold C. and Leota (Helmerich) Frick. She married Richard “Rich” Meyer April 25, 1957, at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Huntingburg High School. She worked as a bookkeeper and tax preparer since 1983 and worked for the U.S. Census for many years. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper. She and her husband enjoyed travelling. She also enjoyed reading, embroidery, flower gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Rich Meyer; three sons, Brian Meyer and wife Janet and Keith Meyer and wife Wendy, all of Jasper, and Brad Meyer and wife Cathy, Evansville; two daughters, Julia (Scott) Beck and husband Scott, Ireland, and Jan Meyerholtz and husband Bryan, Huntingburg; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Meyer, Jordan and Josh Beck, Chase, Clay, and Colton Meyer, Chelsey, Blaize, Logan and Hunter Meyerholtz, and Adonica Meyer; three sisters, Beverly Giesler and husband Bob, Birdseye, Marie Seibert, Huntingburg, and Brenda Gross, Evansville; and two brothers, Karl Frick, St. Augustine, Florida, and Marvin Frick, Jasper.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Kevin Meyer, four sisters, Helen Stobbe, Glenda Leibering, Wanita Wininger, and Patricia Reinhart, and five brothers, William, Harold, Wallace, Arthur, and Jacob Frick.

Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Church of Christ. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
