Deborah Major Seeking Demo Nomination For District 3 County Council Seat

Ferdinand (From Release) – Deborah Major of Ferdinand has filed to seek the Democratic nomination to the Dubois County Council, District 3 seat. District 3 includes Columbia, Hall, Ferdinand, Jackson, Jefferson and Marion townships.

Major has resided in Ferdinand for 18 years with her husband Raymond; married for 35 years. They have three adult children; Woodrow, Eli and Kathryn. She holds a B.S. degree in Food, Nutrition and Institutional Management from the University of Alabama, is retired after 38 years of institutional management, and has served in hospitals, industry, and higher education, including Food Service Director at Person County Hospital (NC) and Clark Memorial Hospital (IN), GE Appliance Park, and St. Meinrad Archabbey and School of Theology. She developed institutional budgets, revenue generating projects, management policies, and has experience in analyses of budgets, sales, accounting and payroll functions, as well as personnel hiring, development and training.

Major has chaired fund raising committees for the Forest Park Marching Rangers and the Fund for the Arts in Louisville. She has served on the boards of the American Red Cross and the Easter Seals Foundation in Jeffersonville. She completed the Leadership training in Clark County. She developed and taught a class at a community college in Roxboro, North Carolina, and was a first aide instructor for first responders in Person County, North Carolina. She currently volunteers at the Ferdinand Branch Library and with the Friends of the Library. She is a member and volunteers for the Ferdinand Historical Society.

Major says, “I am fiscally conservative and believe that all spending be subject to well-reasoned cost-benefit analysis. I look forward to serving the citizens of Dubois County on the County Council.”
