Ruth M. Lueken, 78, Huntingburg

Ruth M. Lueken, 78, of Huntingburg, died Monday (February 12) at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born in Morganfield, Kentucky, November 6, 1939, to Raymond and Mary (Girten) Mills. She married Leon J. Lueken May 29, 1965, at St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg.

Ruth was employed at Jasper Engines and Transmissions, Jasper Holiday Inn, and retired as a clerk at the Dollar General Store. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella and St. Mary’s Ladies Sodality. She was an associate member of the YMI Club and the St. Vincent DePaul Society.

She is survived by her husband, Leon J. Lueken, Sr.; three sons, Leon J. Lueken, Jr., Midlothian, Texas, Mark A. Lueken, Phoenix, Arizona, and Chad D. Lueken and wife Yvonne, Jasper; one brother, Ray Mills, Evansville; one sister, Sue Ingram, Richland; and 16 grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son, Kevin R. Lueken, who died November 27, 1973, three sisters, Ann Brockman, Mona Sauter, and Martha Agnes Mills; and two brothers, Jim and Tom Mills.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer vigil will be led by Deacon Tom Holsworth at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Church, the St. Vincent DePaul Society, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hildebrand.
