Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Royer, 67, Indianapolis

Gerald Wayne “Jerry” Royer, 67, of Indianapolis, died Tuesday (February 6) at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh. He was born in Huntingburg September 26, 1950, to Homer Lee and Martha Jane (Selby) Royer, Jr.

Jerry was a licensed funeral director, a former Dubois County Coroner; worked for the Ferdinand Police Department and the Marion County Police Department, and was a former Lieutenant of Marion County Sheriff Department. He served in the Army at Worms, Germany in communications and was a Viet Nam veteran and a former member of the Jasper VFW. he was a 32nd degree mason of the Nobels of the Mystic Shrine and loved his canine friends, especially Effie.

He is survived by one sister, Carolyn Sue Kemker and husband Bernard, Jasper; one brother, Thomas Allen Royer and wife Sue; and nieces, a nephew, and friends.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A masonic service is being planned for Thursday evening. Details can be found on Nass and Son website later today. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a memorial service Friday morning at the funeral home prior to the church service.
