Portrait Subjects Sought at County Museum

   Flannery O’Kafka

Jasper (NNDC) – The Dubois County Museum is seeking individuals who would like to have their portrait taken by photographer Flannery O’Kafka, the artist-in-residence at the museum since January 20. Her work centers on themes of motherhood, religion, belonging, comedy, suffering, adoption, and the family album.

O’Kafka, who lives in Glasgow, Scotland and has recently traced her birth family to Dubois County, will conclude her stay at the museum Saturday, January 27, with an informal exhibition of photos taken in the community during her week at the museum and additional selections of her previous work. The photos will be shown in the museum board room from 10 to 4 p.m. under the title of ‘You Would Be Home Now If You Lived Here.”

O’Kafka is looking for persons who would like to have their portrait taken. She is specifically looking for adults or children in traditional German dress or Boy Scout uniform to have pictures taken in the old photographic studio at the museum. Interested “subjects” can contact O’Kafka at flanneryokafka@gmail.com or directly at the museum.
