Billy J. Moesner, 79, Huntingburg

Billy J. Moesner, 79, of Huntingburg, died Monday (January 22) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper. He was born in Selvin January 12, 1939, to Edward and Marylee (Wright) Moesner. He married Lois A. Batch August 1, 1959, at the Church of the Nazarene in Huntingburg. She died September 24, 2016.

Billy was a skilled cabinet maker for Kimball. He was a retired captain with the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department where he served the community for 46 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, handgun shooting, watching his grandchildren play sports, and woodworking with his wife Lois.

He is survived by one son, Jay Moesner and wife Linda, Holland; two sisters, Joyce Wilder, Selvin, and LaDonna Mitchum, Albany, Georgia; two grandchildren, Zachary D. Moesner and wife Justine, and Cody M. Moesner, all of Holland; and three great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Evelyn, and Eleanor.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Norman Moesner, and one sister, Carolyn Ingram.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church in Huntingburg. The Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association District #18 and the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Central Christian Church or to the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 10 a.m.Thursday at the church with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Paul Newland will officiate.
