Harold P. Durcholz, 89, Ferdinand

Harold P. Durcholz, 89, of Ferdinand, died Tuesday (January 9) at his home. He was born in Jasper August 26, 1928, to Lawrence Sr. and Hilda (Oeding) Durcholz. He married Virlee Kippenbrock July 4, 1953, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.

Harold retired from Jasper Office Furniture Company after 45 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflick and a member of Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 and the Ferdinand VFW. He was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand. He enjoyed gardening, Indiana University basketball and NASCAR Racing.

He is survived by his wife, Virlee; one son, Allen Durcholz, Louisville; three daughters, Mary (William) Dauby and husband William, Ferdinand, Jayne Stewart and husband Gary, Dalton City, Illinois, and Dianne Lee and husband Edward, Washington, DC; seven grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Stewart, Laurel, Shaina, and Ross Dauby, Brian Sullivan, and Aiden Lee; and three great-grandchildren, Briana Sullivan and Ellie and Dawn Stewart.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Lynne, and two brothers, Larry and Robert Durcholz.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Friday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com. Funeral services 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 will conduct military graveside rites.
