Three Injured In Three Vehicle Crash At Bretzville Junction

Bretzville (NNDC) – Three persons were injured Wednesday in a three¬†vehicle accident at the Bretzville Junction (State Road 64 and State Road 162). The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reports Shelby Greis, 20, of Jasper, was southbound on State Road 162 when her vehicle was struck in the passenger’s side by a van driven by Valerie Messmer, 32, of Huntingburg. Following the initial collision, Gries’ vehicle was knocked into the northbound lane of State Road 164 and struck by a van driven by Bonnie Roos, 81, of Lamar. All three drivers were transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for treatment of minor injuries. The intersection was partially blocked for about 45 minutes while the scene was cleared.

A small amount of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia was located in Messmer’s vehicle. She was cited into court on a Level 6 felony possession of paraphernalia (with prior offense) and a Class A misdemeanor possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana (with prior offense).

Gries and Messmer both claim they had a green light at the time of the crash. The sheriff’s department is looking for witnesses to the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call 812 482-3522 or 812 482-9111.
