Substance Abuse Council Hires New Part-time Coordinator

Dubois County (From Release) – The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council has hired Mark Peters of Huntingburg as its part-time coordinator. Peters has worked in the corporate and non-profit sector with leadership roles in logistics, operations and client relations. He also has volunteer service in sports coaching, and rescue relief efforts
in Haiti, and has worked with troubled boys in Terre Haute.

The new coordinator holds a BS degree in Organizational Management from Oakland City University. The part-time position is a paid position responsible for coordination of all activities and documents relating to the Substance Abuse Council.

The  executive board was recently elected for 2018. Board members are: Deb Capps, Chair, Becky Michael, Co-Chair, Terry Tanner, Treasurer, and  Megan Durlauf, Secretary. At-Large Representatives are Nancy Eckerle, Heather Terwiske, Brett Hurm, Tim Lampert and Jennifer Lampert. Officers assume their duties beginning January 31, 2018.

The Dubois County Substance Abuse Council meets monthly at 11 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Shoney’s Restaurant in Jasper. The monthly meetings are open to the general public to attend.

The mission of the Dubois County Substance Abuse Council is to reduce substance abuse and the problems associated with substance abuse with Dubois County youth and adults in order to enhance family and community life. The Council accepts grant applications each year and provides funding to agencies and organization for prevention, treatment and criminal justice services dealing with substance abuse issues.
