Charles L. Schuck, 90, Jasper

Charles L. Schuck, 90, of Jasper, died Monday (January 8) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in Jasper May 15, 1927, to Ralph and Frances (Becher) Schuck. He married Laverne Stroud June 2, 1949.

Charlie was a 1945 graduate of Jasper High School, a United States Navy veteran, and managed the Sears store in Jasper for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Jasper Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post #147. He sang in the choirs at Holy Family and St. Joseph Church and in a barbershop quartet. He was a Stephen Minister and volunteered at the Dubois County Museum. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting, singing, travelling, gardening, and sailing.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Laverne Schuck; two daughters, Carol Apple and husband Phil, Demotte, and Kathy Nuckols and husband Terry, Caneyville, Kentucky; two sons, Jerry Schuck and wife Germaine, Jasper, and Tom Schuck and wife Sandy, Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter-in-law Linda Schuck, Belmont, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one son, John Schuck, and two sisters, Mary Tevebaugh and Betty Wineinger.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. St. Joseph Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, Southern Care Hospice, or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery mausoleum. American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rights.
