Leo R. Reller, 92, Huntingburg

Leo R. Reller, 92, of Huntingburg, died Wednesday (December 6) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Stendal March 10, 1925, to Daniel and Margaret (Butke) Reller. He married Laurabell Kaetzel September 29, 1956, in Huntingburg.

Leo served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was owner and operator of Reller Jewelers in Huntingburg for 35 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal and V.F.W. Post #2366. He was an advocate for military veterans and was active in the V.F.W. at the local, state and national levels.

He is survived by his wife, Laurabell Reller; one daughter, Glenda Nugent and husband James, Huntingburg; one son, Keith Reller and wife Cheryl, Prospect, Kentucky; one sister, Ruth Kamman and husband Donald, Haubtstadt; six grandchildren, six grandchildren, Justin Neal, Montgomery, Alabama, Cameron Harris, Jasper, Whitney Chamberlain, Huntingburg, Tyler and Braxton Reller, both of Prospect, Kentucky, and Luke Durcholz, Huntingburg; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Amos, Edwin “Pete,” Paul, and Cleo Reller, and one sister, Dorothea Henke.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral service at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church with Pastor Ed Wicks officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. V.F.W. Post #2366 will conduct military graveside rites.
