Kenneth H. “Ken” Hulsman, 70, Jasper

Kenneth H. “Ken” Hulsman, 70, of Jasper, died Wednesday (December 6) at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Huntingburg August 23, 1947, to Cornelius L. and Gertrude R. (Klem) Hulsman. He married Susan K. Kalb September 25, 1971, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony.

Ken was a U.S. Army veteran in the 1st Calvary Airmobile Division. He served in the Vietnam War (1967-1968) and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of

American Legion Post #493, the VFW, and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 77. He was a quality control manager in the furniture manufacturing industry. He enjoyed amateur radio, cooking, woodworking, and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Hulsman; three sons, Jason M. Hulsman and wife Andrea and Justin C. Hulsman and wife Alana, all of Jasper, and John R. Hulsman and wife Nicole, Bretzville; eight grandchildren, Jackson Miller, Harrison, Lillian, Samuel, Anna, Grace, and Everett Hulsman, and Jackson Gamble; three sisters, Kathleen Laake and husband Dennis, Carterville, Illinois, Rita Long and husband Anthony, Boonville, and Theresa Fritz, Belleville, Illinois, and one brother, Michael Hulsman, St. Anthony.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Hulsman.

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Disabled American Veterans Post #77 will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. Funeral services at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper with burial following in Jasper Enlow Cemetery. Jasper VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
