Couple Arrested On Multiple Drug Charges

Jasper (From Releases) – A 27-year-old Paoli woman and a 47-year-old Jasper man face multiple drug charges following their arrests Monday.

Jasper City Police report that at approximately 10:30 o’clock Monday morning a JPD officer, along with the police departments K9, stopped Dodge Spirit near the intersection of 25th Street and Cathy Lane in Jasper. The vehicle had been paced at 34 mph in a 25 mph speed zone and had false and fictitious plates on it. During the course of the traffic stop indicators were noticed of the driver, Darryl C. Russell of Jasper, that led officers to believe he was under the influence of methamphetamine. They also learned that a passenger in the vehicle, Nicole Beavers of Paoli, was found to be wanted on three separate warrants out of Orange County. While taking Ms. Beavers into custody she was found to be in possession of approximately 1.5 grams of methamphetamine. She also admitted to concealing a syringe in her pants, which was turned over to officers.

During the course of the stop it was learned that Russell was staying at the Camelot Inn in Jasper. He admitted to having more methamphetamine at that location. He gave officers consent to search his room and upon doing so another 1/2 gram of methamphetamine, syringes, marijuana, and paraphernalia were located there.

Both subjects were transported to the Jasper Police Department and  later taken to the Dubois County Security Center where they were lodged on the charges. Beavers was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, and visiting common nuisance along with the Orange County warrants for felony theft, misdemeanor batter, and misdemeanor theft. Russell was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
