Jerry W. Kays, 65, Jasper

Jerry W. Kays, 65, of Jasper, died Sunday (November 26) at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born in Huntingburg October 1, 1952, to Henry and Margaret (Kunkler) Kays.

Jerry was a graduate of Huntingburg High School. He was a self-employed mechanic and owned and operated Kays Auto Service in Huntingburg. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, the AMA Motorcycle Club, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the Jasper Moose, and a bowling league. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, bowling, attending music events, and spending time with family and friends. Heloved eating chicken.

He is survived by his fiancé, Karen Wigand, Jasper; one half-sister, Jean Walters and husband Marvin, Huntingburg; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
