Donna Sue Mason, 77, Land O’Lakes, Florida

Donna Sue Mason, 77, of Land O’Lakes, Florida, died Tuesday (November 21) in Wesley Chapel, Florida. She was born in Huntingburg June 12, 1940, to Garneta and Charles Helmerich and Charles Waters and Thelma.

Donna was a 1958 graduate of Huntingburg High School, a 30 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of 1812, and the Daughters of the Union, in which she held numerous national and state offices. She lived in Columbus, Indiana, for 15 years, in Lexington, Kentucky, for eight years, outside Hawesville, Kentucky for 30 years, and in Land O’Lakes, Florida, for the last six months. She loved genealogy, history, Indiana University sports, the Indianapolis Colts, traveling the country, and family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter James “Jim” Mason, Jr.; one daughter, Karen Mason, Land O’Lakes, Florida; one son, Randy Mason, Franklin; one brother, Mark Helmerich, Valparaiso; one sister, Melody Elam, Clyde, California; and many cousins, relatives, and friends.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. The Warrick County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will conduct a vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared Funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Rev. Lee Campbell will officiate at the service.
