Jasper Man Facing Drug and Car Theft Charges

Jasper (From Releases) – A 26-year-old Jasper man is lodged in the Dubois County Security Center charged with auto theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia.

Jason Walters was arrested and charged following a search of his apartment Tuesday by city police.

Earlier on Monday police officials received a report of a vehicle stolen from the Mehringer Metal parking lot. The vehicle, a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was located early Tuesday morning in Huntingburg. An investigating officer received information that Walters was a possible suspect. Officers also learned that Walters had been involved in an accident in Gibson County earlier Monday and Gibson County officials had issued a warrant for his arrest.

Jasper police located and searched Walters and found a small amount of methamphetamine in his pocket and paraphernalia in his apartment. He was taken into custody and charged with auto theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of paraphernalia.
