Albert Norbert Elmer, 79, Siberia

Albert Norbert Elmer, 79, of Siberia, died Monday (November 13) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. He was born in Siberia January 8, 1938, to Edwin and Alma (Troesch) Elmer. He married Doris J. Mehringer August 24, 1963, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper. She died February 23, 1986.

Albert was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Germany. He was a member of St. Meinrad Legion Post 366 and St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, farming, playing cards, animals, especially dogs, and being with family and friends.

He is survived by three sons, Glen Elmer and wife Carla, Darrel Elmer and wife Martha, and Scott Elmer and wife Michelle, all of Siberia; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Lance, Madelynne, Emily, Aubrey, Dylan and Tyler Elmer, and Braydon Songer; and three sisters, Edwina Wendholt, Ferdinand, Mildred Sander and husband Othmar, Ireland, and Alfrieda Matthews and husband Austin, Rockport.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia followed by burial in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be provided by St. Meinrad Legion.
