John E. “Sonny” Logsdon, 86, Jasper

John E. “Sonny” Logsdon, 86, of Jasper, died Wednesday (November 1) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg March 6, 1931, to Arleigh and Georgia (Bufkin) Logsdon. He married Geraldine Jochim February 23, 1954. She died April 17, 2009.

Sonny was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of VFW Post #673. He retired from the Jasper Corporation after 46 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and Jasper Outdoor
Recreation. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by three daughters, Sheryl Cody and husband Bill and Victoria Lueken and husband Mike, all of Jasper, and Pamela Holtz and husband Larry, Ireland; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one brother, Arleigh “Shug” Logsdon.

Friends may call from 1-6 p.m. Sunday at Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to a favorite charity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. VFW Post #673 will conduct military graveside rites.
