Rita C. Schroering, 68, Jasper


Rita C. Schroering, 68, of Jasper, died Saturday (October 28) Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. She was born in Huntingburg October 20, 1949, to Robert and Alice (Verkamp) Theising. She married Tom Schroering June 19, 1971, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois.

Rita was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Tom Schroering Construction. She was a member of a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality, and the Celestine Community Club. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Tom Schroering; three daughters, Carla Fuhrman and husband Todd, Hutto, Texas, Christine Sander and husband Chris, Celestine, and Audrey Weisheit and husband Kevin, Haysville; two sons, Jared Schroering and wife Kellie, St. Anthony, and Blake Schroering and wife Jillian, Celestine; nine grandchildren; five sisters, Linda Reuber and husband Paul, Celestine, Mary and Laura Theising, both of Georgetown, and Ruth Fritch and husband Sid and Jane Hoffman and husband Charlie, all of Jasper; and three brothers, John Theising and wife Mary Jo, Birdseye, Mark Theising and wife Jeanette, Schnellville, and Daniel Theising and wife Janice, Dubois.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Ronnie Theising, and one sister-in-law, Ruby Theising.

Friends may call form 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Holy Family Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray a rosary at 1:45. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity. Online condolences may be made at www.becherkluesner.com. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery.
