Martina A. Streicher, 93, Jasper

Martina A. Streicher, 93, of Jasper, died Thursday (October 26) at her home. She was born in Dubois February 5, 1924, to John and Amelia (Schneider) Friedman. She married Lawrence A. Streicher August 18, 1948, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois. He died April 28, 2015.

Martina worked for the Jasper Sears Store for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its Blessed Virgin Sodality. She loved spending time with her family and friends, plants, gardening, sewing, crocheting, reading, and praying.

She is survived by five daughters, Karen Toby, Janet Streicher, Mary Reisz and husband Kevin, and Joan Jacob and husband Dean, all of Jasper, and Marlene Hastreiter and husband Greg, Ft. Wayne; one son, Gary Streicher and wife Elaine, Jasper; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by son-in-law, Ron Toby, three sisters, Elvira Denu, Laurena Zehr, and LaVerne Kluesner, four brothers, Cyril, Cletus, Raymond, and Edwin Freidman, and two brothers who died in infancy.

Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church. The Blessed Virgin Sodality will pray a rosary at 8:45 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to the Dubois County Community Food Bank. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Church with burial following in the Enlow City Cemetery in Jasper.
