Nancy C. Meyer, 81, Huntingburg

Nancy C. Meyer, 81, of Huntingburg, died Monday (October 23) at her home. She was born in Huntingburg June 21, 1936, to Marion and Lillian (McMillen) Dearing. She married Theodore J. Meyer in 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He died July 12, 2017.

Nancy was employed as a nurse’s aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg for 29 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, St. Mary’s Quilters, the Ladies Red Hat Society, and enjoyed caring for and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Alan Meyer and wife Susan, Jasper, and Gregory Scott and wife Carol, Ireland; two daughters, Kristi Jo Veatch and husband Robert, Huntingburg, and Melinda Kay Breitwieser and husband Don, Jasper; two sisters, Janice Oser and Joann Blocker, both of Huntingburg; her caregiver Linda Wyman, Birdseye; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one infant daughter; three brothers, Jack, Jerome, and Bud Dearing; and three sisters, Jean Ingle and Fern and Dede Tanner.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer vigil will begin at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be shared online at Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Ryan Hilderbrand.
