Vera Marie Peach, 83, Huntingburg

Vera Marie Peach, 83, of Huntingburg, died Thursday (October 19) at The Waters of Huntingburg Nursing Center. She was born on the family farm near Huntingburg November 27, 1933, to Enoch E. and Hilda (Feldmeyer) Brunsman. She married Richard H. Peach October 26, 1952, at Salem Church in Huntingburg. He died October 13, 1995.

Vera was a graduate of Holland High School. She worked for the local telephone company from 1958 until her retirement in the early 1990’s. She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, a member of the church choir for 50 years, the bell choir, and the Women’s Guild. She served as Sunday school secretary for many years. She loved sewing, crocheting, counted cross-stitch, jig saw puzzles, playing cards, and following Indiana University basketball, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and the WNBA.

She is survived by one sister-in-law, Betty Ann Brunsman, Huntingburg; one niece, Denise Gentry and husband Greg, Huntingburg; one nephew, Donovan Brunsman, Huntingburg; two great-nieces, Courtney Gentry and husband Chad, Schnellville, and Molly Brunsman, Huntingburg; one great-nephew, Derek Brunsman, Huntingburg; and one great-great-niece, Charlee Jacob.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Memorial contributions can be made to Salem United Church of Christ or to Heart to Heart Hospice. Online condolences may be shared at Funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the service.
