Sandy Morton Candidate for Dubois County Auditor 2018

Sandra L. Morton, of Jasper, has announced her intention to run for Dubois County Auditor in the 2018 Election on the Democratic ticket.

She has been employed in the Auditor’s office since 1996.   As Deputy Auditor, she works closely with all county departments and taxing units on the budget processes, maintains the county funds ledger, prepares the financial statements, monitors grant management and compliance, creates the abstract of property taxes and distributes the settlement of taxes collected.   She assists in maintaining the county computer systems and serves as a trustee of the County Employee Benefit Trust.  She is a member of the advisory council for the property tax software used by the county.

Sandy and her husband, Mark, are lifelong residents of Dubois County.   They have two daughters, Emily (Kyle) Mullins, of Jasper, and Jordan Morton, of Indianapolis, and have two grandsons, Nolan and Rylan Mullins.  Her parents are Mary and David Ziliak, of Ferdinand, and the late Alfred “Fritz” Blessinger.

Morton, 53, graduated from Forest Park High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Indiana University.  She is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.  Sandy enjoys volunteering her time to various community organizations.  When her children attended school, she served as an officer for the Holy Family Parent Teacher Group, the Holy Family Athletic Booster Club, Jasper High School Girls Soccer Boosters, Girls Track and Field Boosters, and the Performing Arts and Choir Parent Group.  “As my grandchildren become more active, I look forward to supporting their interests as well.”
